Our Project Management and M&E Practice Leader, Dr. James Mushori has, through HIVOS Southern Hub, monitored and evaluated a Global Fund funded project to fight AIDS; Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) in eight Southern Africa Countries including South Africa, Swaziland (E-Swatini), Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbambwe, Lesotho and Namibia. His areas of research interest and expertise are participatory research, quantitative and qualitative research, baseline surveys, project monitoring and evaluation, gender and development, performance management and organizational capacity development, development research and infrastructure. Dr. Mushori has over 10 years in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Design Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMEL). He is a registered Lead Expert by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
Previously, he has worked with Family Aids Initiative Response (USAID Implementing Partner for APHIA 2 Project); Kenya Agricultural Productivity and Agribusiness Project (KAPAP); Eversun Consultants Ltd; Program Officer at Centre for Conflict Resolution Kenya (CCR-Kenya); Operation Research Technical Assistant at Mayittah Group, Harare, Zimbabwe; Consultant for Santuri East Africa’s SEMA Project, Result Based Monitoring and Evaluation System and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd. Currently, Dr. Mushori is a consultant at APEC Consortium Ltd, a firm that specializes in providing engineering consultancy services including feasibility studies, detailed designs, monitoring and evaluation, project management and construction supervision of infrastructure projects, roads, airports, railways, water and sanitation, and building construction.
He holds a PhD in Project Planning and Management (Monitoring and Evaluation) from the University of Nairobi; a Master’s degree in Project Planning Management from the University of Nairobi; a BSc. in Community Development from Egerton University; a Diploma in Information and Technology from Wantech College; and various certifications. He currently serves as the Chairman, Board of Directors of Agency for Child Resilience and Aid (ACRA – Kenya). He is a reviewer of the International Journal of Construction by Taylor and Francis. Dr. Mushori is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Department of Management Science and Project Planning. He is a member of Kenya Association of Project Management and the Environmental Institute of Kenya.
